Artworks in The Brenthurst Library complement the collection of published works and manuscripts in their subject coverage. They are visual depictions by well-known artists, local and visitors, of southern Africa - its history, geography, people and natural splendours, from the seventeenth century to the present. The collection comprises original works in a variety of media - watercolour, pencil and oil - as well as prints, including engravings, lithographs and etchings, of historical importance.
